About Us

Nestled in the outlying Washington D.C. metropolitan suburban community of Brandywine, this Prince George’s County historic site is the former Marlow-Huntt General Store & Post Office that was built “circa” 1867.

One can almost hear the rumble of carriage wheels from the past, or hear Civil War Veterans swapping stories on the front porch, sense President Wilson’s visits on his way to court his sweetheart in Southern Maryland and also sense the history of that fateful night after President Lincoln’s assassination when John Wilkes Booth rode past after leaving the nearby Surratts House as his escape route so many years ago.

Passers-by delight in seeing the festive and picturesque decorations that take place throughout the year including Valentine’s Day, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, the Thanksgiving and Fall season and of course the Christmas and Winter scenes.

This old fashioned Ice Cream Parlor & Café has earned the reputation of being a charming and friendly place with an old time setting that includes colorful tiffany lamps, a brass foot rail and an ambience that makes you feel as though you are at your home away from home.  Visitors particularly enjoy lingering on the homey front porch, enjoying the care free atmosphere, stopping by to check out seasonal decorations or awaiting views of beautiful sunsets.

The Proprietors & Staff of the Ice Cream Factory & Café delight in bringing good cheer and friendly service to all of their Visitors.  Incredible things happen at the Café/Parlor, such as Strangers actually “talk” to each other, people often break into spontaneous singing, dancing and laughter.

We are always very humbled at the fact that Visitors often thank us for Uplifting the Community by saving a building that was dilapidated, run down and a very visible eyesore, preserving a piece of Maryland’s history and bringing such a Cheerful setting to the Metro area located just minutes away from the Capitol of the United States and Andrews Air Force Base as the crow flies.
